Lions fall in Philadelphia

With a chance to set a Penn State record for consecutive nonconference road wins, the men's basketball team fell short on Saturday. The Nittany Lions were edged by Temple, 45-42, at the Liacouras Center, snapping the nonconference streak at four.

Ryan Brooks provided the game-winner with 1:32 left in the second half, putting the Owls up 43-40 before icing the game by hitting two foul shots with 11.6 seconds remaining. Brooks led all scorers with 19 points, while sophomore Chris Babb led the Lions with 11 off the bench.

The Lions shot 34.9 percent from the floor, making just 15-of-43 shots. Freshman forward Bill Edwards had 11 rebounds and eight points but was charged with an offensive foul that led to Brooks' free throws.
