Five men charged in cocaine ring

Five men were charged Tuesday in connection with operating a $1 million cocaine ring that spanned from Philadelphia to State College, according to a statement released by Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett.

Edwin Rhoades, 38, of Centre Hall, Pa.; James Losch, 47, of Howard, Pa.; Brian King, 27, of Media, Pa.; Hasan Bradley, 29, of Deptford, N.J.; and Andre Spangler, 30, of Media, Pa. were all charged in connection with operating the drug ring, according to the release.

The investigation, known as "Operation Rhoade Block," began in January 2009 and focused on the distribution of several hundred ounces of cocaine in the State College area, Corbett said in a press release.

Each of the men faces charges of criminal conspiracy, possession or intent to deliver cocaine and corrupt organization, according to the release.

"Drug dealers, like the ones arrested today, know that there is a strong demand for drugs in both college and rural communities," Corbett said. "No community, large or small -- urban or rural, is immune from drug abuse and drug trafficking. Drug suppliers will move anywhere there is a demand for their product."
