Lions steal show at ESU Open

The East Stroudsburg Open turned into a Penn State wrestling team exhibition Saturday as 11 Nittany Lion grapplers placed at the event.

The Lions were led by All-Americans Bubba Jenkins and Quentin Wright, who won the titles at 157 and 184, respectively. Both wrestlers faced fellow Lions in the final, with Jenkins defeating true freshman David Taylor in a tight 4-3 title match.

Wright overtook another freshman, Ed Ruth, to give the Lions the top three spots at 184, along with third-place finisher David Crowell.

Two future Lions also shined at the event. Recent signee Andrew Alton went 4-0 and took the title at 141. Meanwhile, his brother Dylan Alton took third-place at 149.

The Lions compete in the Sprawl and Brawl Duals today in Binghamton, N.Y.
