Women's swimmers drop meet to Virginia

The No. 24 women's swimming and diving teams fell to No. 11 Virginia this weekend in a two-day meet, 183-156.

Freshman Amy Modglin continued her stellar start to her career as a Lion with a historic meet.

Modglin set the McCoy Natatorium record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.23. The time was also the eighth fastest time in the event in school history. She also finished first for the Lions in both the 200 IM and the 200 backstroke.

For the divers, junior Ilana Zeises took first in the 1-meter diving event, while fellow junior Megan Marco placed first in the 3-meter dive.

The Lions (3-2) start their Big Ten schedule on Dec. 4 when they travel to Columbus for the Ohio State Invitational.
