LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Students' spotty attendance shouldn't merit more seats

I keep asking myself why the hell the athletic department would want to add even more student seats to the "Best Student Section in the Nation." First off I had season tickets, and I attended every game, which is something some ticket holders can't say. Also I was in my seat more than an hour before every kickoff, which is also something that most ticket holders can't say.

Why add more seats when I honestly can't say with certainty that all of them have ever been filled? Everyone keeps blaming it on the new ticket system. Heaven forbid we blame it on the lazy students who can't get out of bed before noon or those who don't show up or sell their tickets for games that we are almost certain to win.

Here's an idea -- keep the seats the same (I look forward to sitting on the 30 yard line my last season, not the end zone which is the way it looks now), and implement some sort of system in which the athletic department keeps track of who actually uses their tickets and doesn't let them go to waste or sell them. Sell tickets to those who are legitimate Penn State Football fans, and don't allow they flaky ones to buy for the next season.
