Here at Penn State, we take great pride in being the No. 1 student section in the country, do we not?

So why do students continue to show up late and many even not at all for the football games?

The showing at the Indiana game was flat out embarrassing. The student section MIGHT have been three quarters filled at kickoff, and that's being generous.

Now I realize it's a noon kickoff, which is rough for most people, but still -- being there for kickoff isn't too much to ask.

Now if this was a one-time thing, I can understand, but it's happened at essentially every game this season. Even the Ohio State game wasn't near full at kick off, and given the circumstances, that was the most important game of the year against our biggest conference rival.

I've had people tell me that it looks absolutely horrible on TV with such huge open spaces in the student section.

It's embarrassing to say the least for a school that has such pride in being the No. 1 student section.

Don't be surprised if next year there's a new top student section in the land.
