Women's volleyball wins 92nd straight match

Behind another strong match from Megan Hodge, the No. 1 Penn State women's volleyball team defeated Northwestern 3-0 Saturday night in Rec Hall.

The win is the Lions' (28-0, 16-0 Big Ten) 92nd consecutive and puts the team in a tie with the UNC women's soccer team for the second longest winning streak in NCAA Division I history.

Hodge notched 15 kills and hit .375 as the Lions outhit the Wildcats .360 to .083.

A crowd of 5,312, the fourth largest home crowd in Penn State women's volleyball history, watched the Lions use stellar defense to shut down the Wildcats attack. As a team the Lions tallied 11 blocks and 26 digs. Northwestern was solid on defense as well with 5.5 blocks and 30 digs.

The Lions are back in action next weekend when they travel to Indiana to face Purdue and Indiana.
