Police obtain Tierney's phone records

Police obtained phone records for the man documents say told authorities he accidentally shot and killed his 21-year-old girlfriend Oct. 24 in game lands just 30 minutes from campus.

Troy R. Tierney -- who Penn State officials say is listed as a student -- told authorities he accidentally shot his girlfriend, Racheal Lynn Perryman, of Port Matilda, while hunting at Black Moshannon State Forest in Union Township at about 8:30 p.m., according to court documents.

Phone records show that Perryman texted Tierney's father's cell phone the night she died, according to the warrant. Tierney's father, Thomas Ray Tierney, said he received a message from Perryman at about 7:15 p.m. that stated, "Lookn 4 deer," according to the warrant.

Thomas Ray Tierney told police he and his wife had dinner plans with their son and his girlfriend for later that evening, according to the warrant.

The Pennsylvania State Police at Philipsburg are currently investigating whether criminal homicide charges are appropriate in the case, according to court documents.
