Hershey commits $1M to medical center

The Hershey Co. has committed $1 million to the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center toward a new free-standing children's hospital, according to a statement posted Tuesday on Penn State Live.

With the company's donation, funding for the new children's hospital campaign is now $3 million away from its $65 million goal.

The funds from the Hershey Co. will go toward a safety center in the hospital -- named after the company -- that will provide safety education and resources for parents and caregivers, according to the statement.

Two men charged with counts of theft

Two men were arrested after police reported that several men were rummaging through vehicles on the 2300 block of Raven Hollow Road on Nov. 1, Ferguson Township Police Department said.

Daniel E. Jeyes, 18, of State College, and Zachary W. Wagner, 18, of Port Matilda, were both charged with multiple counts of theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and loitering and prowling at nighttime, police said.

As police responded to the calls made at about 4:31 a.m. Nov. 1, they identified two men who matched the description given to authorities, police said. One of the men was seen placing several women's purses on the ground at the 2500 block of Park Center Blvd., police said.

Jeyes and Wagner were also found in possession of credit cards belonging to a Park Center Boulevard resident and a Tyrone resident, police said.

Both men are currently being held in Centre County Correctional Facility on $2,500 bail, police said.
