Election Day is underway and Republican candidates Joe Wakeley and Michael Madeira are using the day to make one final campaign push, from the polls and from home.
Madeira, who is running for Centre County District Attorney, said he has already spoken with many voters and feels the campaign is going well.
"We've had a lot of positive reaction," he said. "In the past two to three weeks, people are beginning to pay attention beyond campaign rhetoric."
Madeira said he plans on going to both the HUB-Robeson Center and the Lemont United Methodist Church before the day is through.
For Wakeley, traveling for the day has ended. The mayoral candidate said his plans are "sitting on the home-front" until the results come in tonight.
"I'm recovering. It's been a tough month," he said. "I've been going full steam ... every minute was full. I feel the voters have decided and I think we've given them a lot of material."
Wakeley said despite his absence, his wife will continue to work the polls and talk to voters.
Borough council candidate and Penn State student Brett Fisher made a stop at the Centre Region Senior Centre on 131 S. Fraser St.
Fisher said while his campaigning has been getting a positive reaction, the lack of voters has at the polls has him worried.
"Everything is going well," Fisher said. "But it's a little disconcerting when only 100 people show up."
Dorothy Franco, a poll worker from the Centre Region Senior Center, said her polling station had 54 voters show up so far and can expect another 50 throughout the rest of the day.
"It's been a little slow," she said. "We've only had a few student voters."
