Sigma Pi fraternity member removed
Jason Falco was removed as a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity after facing drug charges in connection with selling cocaine on Oct. 19 at the 303 Fraternity Row property, Interfraternity Council (IFC) officials said.
Falco, 21, of Allentown, is charged with a felony possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of one gram of cocaine, according to court documents. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week. The incident took place during the fraternity's move-in weekend and Falco was not living in the house at the time of the incident and does not currently reside there, IFC officials said.
TV and composite portraits stolen from Phi Kappa Theta fraternity
A large-screen television and four composite portraits were taken sometime before Thursday from Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, 338 E. Fairmount Ave., the State College Police Department said.
Police said there was no sign of forced entry, and there was no cost estimate for the taken items.
Local hospital has new visitor guidelines
To help prevent further spread of the H1N1 virus, Mount Nittany Medical Center has developed new visitation guidelines for its visitors.
No visitors with flu or cold-like symptoms will be admitted, nor will visitors under the age of 17, according to a press release. Visitors are limited to immediate family or caregivers only. Visiting hours will remain 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The press release also states that the hospital will determine if any exceptions would apply. If the number of cases continues to increase, further visiting hour limitations may be implemented.
Police: Two men attacked on 200 block of Hetzel street
Two men were attacked by five or six other men at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Hetzel Street, the State College Police Department said.
The two men were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where they were treated for injuries, police said.
Students assaulted by unknown men
A Penn State student was punched and kicked in the face by three men at about 1 a.m. Sunday on the 400 block of South Allen Street, the State College Police Department said.
The man asked the three individuals to stop "cat-calling" at his female friends and was then punched to the ground and kicked, police said.
Two individuals were identified and one is at large, police said.
Students assaulted by unknown men after fight over costumes
Three Penn State students were assaulted by four unknown men after a fight regarding their Halloween costumes at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Allen Street and Westerly Parkway, State College Police Department said.
A man dressed as a purple Teletubby and another man dressed in a white tank top have charges pending in connection with the incident, police said.
A man dressed as a nun and a fourth man remain at large, police said.
Two of the three men who were punched suffered facial injuries, police said.
Woman reports man stole box of candy
A woman reported at about 8:10 p.m. Oct. 31 a man punched her in the arm after he tried to take her "full-size" candy bars during trick-or-treating hours, State College Police Department said.
The man could have been wearing a skeleton mask and was with a woman and a toddler, police said. The woman described the three as a family and told police the man took the whole box of candy, police said.
Man kicked out State Theatre window
An unidentified man kicked out the front window at the State Theatre at about 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. Police said the college-aged white male was wearing a sleeveless black shirt and black pants. There was no estimated cost of the damage, police said.
Theft: An unknown person stole $1,550 from an occupied room at the Imperial Motor Inn, 118 S. Atherton St., sometime overnight Oct. 28, the State College Police Department said.
Simple Assault: A Penn State student suffered a possible broken nose when four men jumped him at about 1 a.m. Sunday somewhere on South Garner Street, the State College Police Department said.
