Lions explode in fourth quarter to top Wildcats

EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 12 Penn State got three touchdowns from three different players in the fourth quarter Saturday and was able to pull away from Northwestern, winning 34-13, at Ryan Field.

Brandon Beachum broke a tie game with a two-yard plunge into the end zone with 12:27 in the fourth quarter to make it 20-13 Penn State. The Nittany Lions' next two drives lasted a play each, with Daryll Clark hitting Derek Moye for a 53-yard touchdown pass before Evan Royster broke off a 69-yard touchdown run.

Penn State (8-1, 4-1 Big Ten) trailed by as many as seven and was down 13-10 at halftime before its defense shut down the Wildcats (5-4, 2-3) in the second half.
