Former Democratic District Attorney candidates Anthony De Boef and J. Karen Arnold formally expressed their support for Republican candidate Michael Madeira Thursday, both saying he is best for the future of Centre County.
"This is not about politics or personality... It's a very important job...Michael is the person to vote for," De Boef said.
Madeira, the Republican incumbent, faces Democratic challenger Stacy Parks Miller in the Nov. 3 election.
De Boef said Madeira's deep understanding of the law makes him a better candidate than Parks Miller. De Boef stressed that his support for Madeira was not because of resentment or "sour grapes" for losing to Parks Miller in the primary election.
Parks Miller won the Democratic nomination with 57.62 percent of the vote to De Boef's 22.46 percent of the vote, according to the Centre Country Office of Elections and Voter Registration.
"Many people told me not to do this, saying, 'If Madeira lost then Miller may be mean to you,' but I know she won't be mean to me," De Boef said, adding "It's not personal."
