Arrest warrant issued in theft

A Centre County judge issued an arrest warrant Monday for the McKeesport man who police said robbed three Penn State students at gunpoint Friday in their Beaver Terrace apartment.

Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Grine issued a warrant Monday for the arrest of Dalen Sayles, 19, of 1405 Bouquet St. Sayles will be charged with felony robbery, felony criminal conspiracy, simple assault, recklessly endangering others, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Sayles has also been entered into the National Crime Information Center database. Authorities believe he is in the Pittsburgh area.

Dalen Sayles arrived at his cousin Arnold Sayles' Lock Haven University dorm room Friday and immediately "talked about robbing people," the State College Police Department said.

After Arnold and Dalen Sayles and Barrington D. Wilson, Jr., arrived in State College, Arnold Sayles called a mutual friend of one of the three people in the Beaver Terrace apartment to ask for the apartment number.

Dalen Sayles and the two other men forced their way into the 456 E. Beaver Ave. apartment, holding three students at gunpoint. A man in a Pittsburgh Pirates ball cap and a dark bandana covering his head shoved a semi-automatic gun in Penn State student Kevin Levy's face, police said.

The man with the gun grabbed Levy by the neck and pushed him up against the wall, demanding he sit on the couch with two other Penn State students who were playing guitars, police said.

The men took $52 in cash and three cell phones worth an estimated $600 and threw the guitars on the floor, according to court documents.

Wilson, 18, of Stroudsburg, and Arnold J. Sayles Jr., 19, of North Versailles, turned themselves in Sunday, but Dalen Sayles remains at large, police said.

Wilson and Arnold Sayles are each charged with felony robbery, felony criminal conspiracy, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, according to court documents. Arnold Sayles remains behind bars on $30,000 straight bail. Centre County Correctional Facility officials said Wilson posted his bail sometime Monday.

Police said Dalen Sayles has no known associates in the State College area but may have some contacts in Lock Haven.
