After selecting three proposals from a pool of more than 60, the Class of 2010 is now being asked to vote on its senior gift.
Voting will take place online and in the HUB-Robeson Center through Friday.
The first option is an endowment to maintain the HUB Aquarium. The funds would go toward replacing equipment and dying fish as well as monitoring the system.
The second is an addition to the Penn State Arboretum. Donations would go toward building a bridge at the site that would function as both an entryway and a path over the arboretum's marsh.
The final option would put the money toward buying a large sculpture and endowing a scholarship. The sculpture is currently on loan to Penn State and is located near the Armsby Building.
Alyssa Rosenblum, communications chairwoman for the committee, said the gift coordinators are excited about their selections and confident that students will take to them.
The committee takes proposals for the gift beginning in the summer. Rosenblum (senior-marketing) said they received about 60 responses this year, a new record.
Senior Class Gift Committee Chairman Mike Lampariello said the process is all about seniors.
"We don't want this to be the senior class gift picked by the administrators," Lampariello (senior-landscape architecture) said.
"The senior class gift should be voted on by the seniors and attributed to the seniors."
Lampariello said the best way for seniors to make an informed decision is to research before voting. He said there is information available on the committee's Web site and a large display in the HUB.
Voting opened Monday and continues through Friday. Paper ballots are available in the HUB, or seniors can vote on the Senior Gift Committee's Web site at seniorclassgift.psu.edu.
Rosenblum said the committee saw a good number of voters on Monday and is expecting to see more as voting continues.
