This letter is in response to Sarah Peters' Oct. 7 article "On-campus market offers local produce."
Healthy eating in college is hard to come by. With deep fried temptations that surround us almost everywhere on campus, it is hard to stray from these delicious victuals. Similarly, with the recent announcement that Simmons Dinning Commons will be closed, students have begun to wonder where they will be able to obtain healthy food.
The article addresses this issue with the Cellar Market and all of its delicious and healthy produce that it has to offer.
Personally, I have strong belief in this local market as it is run by the Department of Horticulture, and it helps support the university as well as the community.
The Cellar Market offers a wide of variety of produce, and more importantly, this small market is a business in our local community.
I propose that we as community should obligate ourselves to buy our produce from local stores such as the Cellar Market because it is more sustainable and it will help local businesses to flourish in our weakened economy.
