Stracar leads Lions in Day Two

Sophomore Michaela Stracar picked up victories in both singles and doubles to lead the Penn State women's tennis team in the second day of the University of Kentucky Invitational.

Joining Stracar in doubles play was freshman Sarah Henderson. The duo topped Anals Hamel and Alyze Pagal of Eastern Kentucky 8-6.

Henderson's classmate, Petra Januskova and senior Lauren McCarthy lost their semifinal match in Flight A doubles to Lindsay Hardenburgh and Erin Vierra of Virginia 8-1.

Januskova continued her first career tournament by picking up her first career singles victory in Flight A by defeating Sarah Miller of Louisville 6-3, 6-2 in the consolation quarterfinal.

Sophomore Maria Prishlyak also picked up a singles victory for the Nittany Lions. She won her match against Virginia's Neela Vaez in the Flight B consolation semifinals 6-0, 6-4.

Penn State will wrap up the tournament Sunday in Lexington, Ky.
