Agriculture scholarship to be established
The university has received $50,000 from a retired agriculture professor to create a Trustee Scholarship for students in the College of Agriculture who have a financial need, according to a statement posted on Penn State Live.
The scholarship will be named after Dennis Scanlon, who taught at the university from 1982 to 2008, and his wife Janet. Students majoring in agricultural and extension education -- Scanlon's field of study -- will receive first preference for the scholarship, according to the release.
"We have a good strong agricultural education program in the state. I want to keep that going," Scanlon told Penn State Live.
