Dominant offense leads Icers past Towson

One night after a controversial win, the Penn State ACHA Division I

Icers left little doubt Saturday afternoon, beating the Towson Tigers

15-3 at Greenberg Ice Pavilion.

Forwards Dominic Morrone, Paul Daley, Eric Steinour and defenseman

Steve Thurston all scored twice as Penn State (2-0) scored 12 goals in

the final 30 minutes of play to break open the game. Forwards Matt

Kirstein and Marek Polidor each had a goal and two assists and Tim

O'Brien had a goal and a assist.

For the second straight night, Towson (1-3) kept it close early, tying

the game at two, and then again at three early in the second period.

But Marrone's rebound goal of a wide shot from defenseman Dan Petrick

put the Icers ahead for good 7:20 into the second period.

John Jay started in goal in place of Teddy Hume and got the win,

stopping 12 of 15 Tiger shots.
