Judge dismisses frat furnishing charges

Centre County District Judge Carmine Prestia dismissed furnishing alcohol charges Wednesday against Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity, citing insufficient evidence to link the fraternity to the party police said was held at the 328 E. Foster Ave. property in July.

Police: Woman assaulted officers

A woman assaulted three Pennsylvania State Police officers during a tailgate party near Beaver Stadium Saturday, police said.

Officers George W. Stratton, Earl A. Killion and Christopher J. Burns were assaulted by Francine Ruth Hartley Saturday while the men were patrolling football tailgates for underage drinkers, police said.

Hartley approached the police in an aggressive manner, screaming, yelling and refusing orders to step away from the officers, police said. She was issued a citation for disorderly conduct but refused to sign it, police said.

Hartley continued to act disorderly and was placed under arrest, police said. She was placed on the ground, handcuffed and transported to the stadium command post, police said.

Hartley was arraigned by video before Centre County District Judge Carmen Prestia and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Police: Driver punched pedestrian in face

A man driving a vehicle got out of his car and punched a man in the face at about 4:29 p.m. Tuesday after the pedestrian smacked his car, the State College Police Department said.

The driver was yielding to the pedestrian at the intersection of West College Avenue and South Burrowes Street, but the pedestrian said he didn't feel the driver gave him enough space, so he smacked the car with his hands, police said.

The driver parked a block away and got out of his car and followed the pedestrian, police said. After catching up with the man, the driver punched him in the face, police said.

The pedestrian did not require medical attention, and the driver was cited for harassment, police said.

Police: Unknown person assaulted man

An unknown person assaulted a man inside of a 320 E. Beaver Ave. building at about 11:34 p.m. Tuesday, the State College Police Department said.

The man was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for mouth and head injuries, police said.

Police said there are no suspects, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Alcohol Taskforce reports violations

The Centre County Alcohol Taskforce reported seven DUIs, six minor's law violations and 13 disorderly conducts during the Iowa football weekend, police said.

The taskforce worked with the State College Police Department and conducted DUI roving patrols, according to a press release.

Officers from Ferguson, Patton and Bellefonte also participated in the police operation, police said.

Theft: A man told police an unknown actor stole a laptop and iPod worth a combined $1,100 at about 7 p.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of South Pugh Street, the State College Police Department said.
