Jon Eich, chairman of Centre County Board of Commissioners, said there are several organizations throughout the county that work to find eligible residents.

The second grant, worth $199,000, will go to help residents with mental illnesses in the area find suitable and stable housing. Associates of the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program of Pennsylvania are heading the project by securing five apartments to be used by those eligible, Eich said. The apartments will act as temporary housing for the residents until they are able to find a better living situation.
