Council talks about future events

The Commonwealth Council of Student Governments began gearing up for its upcoming All-University Day, and eyed preparations for the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon at a meeting Monday night.

Members discussed CCSG business, including a new Web site, ccsg.psu.edu, and now-accessible budget for the organization, led by CCSG president Nick Borsuk (senior-history).

All-University Day, or All-U Day, is sponsored annually by CCSG, and welcomes students from the 12 Commonwealth Campuses to a home Penn State football game. This year's All-U Day will be

Sept. 26 for the Penn State vs. Iowa football game with CCSG events starting at 4 p.m.

The event includes a tailgate before the game and group seating on the north end of Beaver Stadium. Representatives from the Commonwealth Campuses will display banners from their campuses, said CCSG public

relations Director Bill Corcoran (junior-advertising-public relations).

The CCSG also reviewed its plans to begin fundraising for Thon, hoping to exceed its contribution of more than $9,000 last year. Finances extended to the student government group's new budget for the year.

The CCSG budget of more than $18,000 has already begun to be allocated for travel expenses and programming events, said CCSG Financial Manager Amanda Dame (senior-accounting).

The CCSG also promoted its new Web site, designed by information technology Director Derek Sweeney (senior-civil engineering), which the organization plans to use to coordinate events and display information on officers.
