Hot tub stolen from residence's backyard

A $600 hot tub was stolen from a 616 S. Allen St. property last weekend, the State College Police Department said.

Police said they suspect two older white men removed the hot tub from the backyard of the residence.

The men asked neighbors about ownership of the hot tub because they thought it might have been abandoned, police said.

Two boys hit by a car in Furnace, Pa.

A vehicle struck a 15-year-old Boalsburg boy and a 16-year-old boy from Furnace, Pa., on Sunday after they ran out of a cornfield into an intersection, the Ferguson Township Police Department said.

The accident occurred at West Whitehall Road near the Timothy Lane intersection at about 5:19 p.m. Police are currently investigating the incident, police said.

The boys ran in front of a 32-year-old woman's vehicle and both sustained injuries, police said. The 15-year-old was transported to Geisinger Medical Center by helicopter.

Police did not release the names of those involved in the incident.

Sheller's Bend residence broken into

Someone forced open the front door of a residence on the 3200 block of Sheller's Bend on Saturday and took numerous items, the Ferguson Township Police Department said.

The residence was broken into sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Any information on this crime can be reported to the Ferguson Township Police at 814-237-1172 or the Centre County Crimestoppers at 1-877-992-7463. Police are offering up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.

Derogatory remarks found in dorms

A Residence Life coordinator told police that someone wrote derogatory remarks on two dry-erase boards at about 10:45 p.m. Friday in Shulze Hall, Penn State Police said.

An unknown actor wrote that an individual "is gay" on one dry-erase board and "gay" on another, police said.

The coordinator saw the boards and notified the authorities, police said.

Arson: A Penn State employee reported that two students intentionally set fire to wastepaper in a Hoyt Hall restroom at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Penn State Police said. There was no damage and the students were identified and released, police said.
