This letter is in response to Jeannine Rahner Piotrowski's July 7 letter, "Student ticket sales system still needs a bit of tweaking." Let me start by saying that I agree that the ticketing system at Penn State does need improvement, both on student and non-student tickets. We need to try to curb scalping and profiteering while assuring that supporters, alumni and students can get adequate tickets. This is a difficult task as it will never be perfect, but, in my opinion, it is moving in the right direction.
Both Nittany Lion Club and the Alumni Association have repeatedly published the information for student tickets as well as regular tickets. It has also been on the PSU athletic department site for months. Many different clubs and organizations sent notices pertaining to tickets. Thousands of students and alumni have seen it and have responded accordingly.
Again, I agree that the system needs improvement, though blaming others for an opportunity missed is a poor way to fix it and a poor life lesson for your son.
