The State College Spikes will be without outfielder Jose Hernandez for the next 4-6 weeks after he suffered a foot injury.
"I have a crack, it's nothing big," Hernandez said. "Should be back in that time."
Hernandez suffered the injury after his at-bat in the ninth inning Thursday night against the Auburn Doubledays after he had originally injured the foot about a week and a half ago, he said.
Manager Gary Robinson wouldn't speak in-depth on the injury other than to say Hernandez should be out 4-6 weeks.
However, the Spikes will get shortstop Andy Vasquez back sooner than that. Robinson said Vasquez was diagnosed with shin splints and he expects him back in the lineup in the next day or two.
"We cannot take the chance of playing him with those shin splints and having him get hurt somewhere else," Robinson said. "He's just got too much talent for that."
Vasquez will return once team trainers clear him to play, Robinson said.
Ty Summerlin replaced Vasquez in the lineup for the second straight day, playing second and batting second while Brock Holt moved to shortstop. Kyle Saukko played left field after Hernandez played left Thursday night.
