After arresting a Delaware man in connection with the drug paraphernalia found at the residence of four Penn State football players, Penn State Police said none of the players have been charged and the case is likely closed.
Ronald D. Bridges, 29 Karens Way, was charged Thursday with possession of drug paraphernalia after police say he told them he was the owner of of a multi-colored glass smoking pipe seized from Nittany Apartments unit 4103, according to the criminal complaint.
Police were called to the complex April 25 to disperse a loud party when they heard a fire alarm emanating from apartment 4103, according to a search warrant for the residence. Officers entered the apartment for safety reasons and observed what they believed to be marijuana in "plain view" in the kitchen, according to the warrant.
Bridges was visiting one of the apartment residents for the weekend and brought the marijuana pipe with him, Penn State Police Assistant Chief Tyrone Parham said. Police could not determine ownership of the marijuana seen in the kitchen, but said that after two weeks of investigation, additional charges aren't likely.
The Daily Collegian is withholding the names of the residents because no charges have been filed against them.
Attorney Anthony De Boef said he had been contacted by the four players for "legal consultation," and was pleased with the resolution. There were visitors in the apartment when the marijuana was found, he said, and the team members were not present.
"I'm glad that everyone took the time to seek justice and fairness to all," he said.
