The drizzle won't keep the red-clad supporters of UPUA presidential candidate Samantha Miller off of the campaign trail today.
Running for University Park Undergraduate Association's (UPUA) top spot, Miller has spent the day on and off campus, mainly outside of the HUB-Robeson Center, since early this morning, talking to students about her platform and getting out the vote.
"We're hitting the ground and trying to get the push," Miller (junior-political science) said.
University Park undergraduate students can vote at vote.psu.edu until 10 p.m.
Miller and other candidates kicked off their day at 6 a.m. at The Waffle Shop, 364 E. College Ave. Matt Smith (junior-international politics), Miller's running mate, was not at breakfast but has spent the day alongside Miller and said he is confident in the way things have been going throughout the day.
"Communication is up and things are in top-notch shape," Smith said.
Miller said she is optimistic about a large turnout at the polls, adding she has noticed long lines at public polling centers. She attributed the turnout to the work of the elections commission in the past weeks about getting out the vote.
Elly Okkelberg, a Miller supporter, was strolling along Willard Building handing out fliers to approaching students and answering questions. Okkelberg, sporting Miller's campaign color, said most of the students have been inquisitive about the campaign.
"I did have to answer a few questions of what is UPUA, though," Okkelberg (sophomore-materials science and engineering) said.
Only half way through the day, Miller said she will be campaigning until the last moments.
"There are still a lot more hours in the day and a lot more work to do," Miller said.
