Thon AVP positions move committees

The Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils Associate Vice President (AVP) positions for the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon have been moved from the Overall Committee to the Communications Committee, said Nate Cecco, Thon public relations overall. The decision was made to "streamline communication between Thon and the greek community," Cecco said. Luke Pierce, IFC president, said the greek community is disappointed but will continue to support Thon.

Man sentenced to prison term

The Manheim, Pa., man who police say drove his car into a State College house in October was sentenced Tuesday to 10 days to six months in prison, Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said.

Nick L. Skladany, 21, pleaded guilty to DUI and careless driving after police said he drove his green Mercedes Benz into a West College Avenue house, Madeira said. Skladany's sentence will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, he said.

Skladany registered a 0.19 percent blood-alcohol content after the incident, police said. He told a paramedic at the scene that he had "way too much to drink to be driving," police said.

Police: Items stolen from frat house

A collection of items totaling $1,300 was stolen from Alpha Epsilon Phi fraternity house Monday night, the State College Police Department said. A music mixer/CD player, two amplifiers, two pledge class paddles and 13 trophies were taken from the 240 E. Prospect Ave. house, police said. Police were unable to immediately determine how entrance to the property was gained, a fraternity member said.
