National fraternity chapter enters legal fray

Phi Delta Theta's national chapter petitioned Friday to intervene in Penn State's lawsuit against the suspended chapter on 240 N. Burrowes Road, saying neither party "is protecting the interest of the student fraternity."

The national chapter aims to ensure that the property or, if sold, its proceeds benefit the suspended student fraternity, according to court documents. The petition contends the national chapter has no stake in current controversy over the interpretation of the century-old house's deed.

Interests of the national chapter are being neglected, according to the petition, and it intends to preserve the property's assets for when the chapter can be reactivated.
