Centre County Assistant District Attorney Lance Marshall resigned from his position effective Wednesday after a discussion about how certain cases were handled, Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said.

Marshall's resignation was dated Tuesday but went into effect Wednesday. Madeira called the resignation "a personnel matter that we handle in house" and refused to comment further.

Marshall declined to comment on his resignation.
