Drivers can be aware of their surroundings

In response to, "Pedestrians can remember rules to prevent accidents" (Dec 9), I must say that if the pedestrian law is what you state, then by all means that's what should be kept in mind. I do believe, however, that some of you drivers are driving at maximum speeds, and you are more responsible if an accident were to occur. As a pedestrian, I get mixed signals on whether or not I should cross the street because some of you drivers act like you don't want to yield to pedestrians. If you hit a pedestrian then most likely you'll be charged whether you are in the right or wrong, and as a driver, you should as be aware of your surroundings.
