Sculpture Club to display work

The Penn State Sculpture Club will display its artwork at 4 p.m. today in the Visual Arts Building, next to an alcove of the Zoller Café (breezeway). The Sculpture Club has priced all of the work for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The club will auction off its show in an attempt to break artist Damien Hirst's sale record of $200 million.

Police: Establishments cited by Bureau

Two local establishments were found in violation of liquor laws and cited by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement Monday, according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release.

Champs Sports Bar & Grill, 1611 N. Atherton St., was cited with furnishing alcohol to a minor Oct. 31, according to the police report.

Ramada Inn, 1450 S. Atherton St., was cited with furnishing alcohol to two visibly intoxicated male patrons, according to the police report.

Both face penalties ranging from $50 up to $5,000, according to the report.

Police: Student steals alcohol

A Penn State student who police say impersonated a resident assistant and then stole alcohol from other students Nov. 8 was charged Thursday, Penn State Police said.

Matthew James Cepko, of 2414 Willow Drive, Export, Pa., was charged with criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and purchase, consumption or transportation of liquor or malt or brewed beverages, police said.

Police said Cepko and another man, posing as resident assistants, entered a dorm room in Packer Hall at about 9:30 p.m. and told the student they wanted to search his refrigerator for alcohol.

They confiscated several different beers and an opened bottle of Vladimir vodka from the refrigerator, police said. Cepko and the other man then entered another room on the floor and took a 40-ounce Hurricane malt liquor bottle, according to the criminal complaint.

Police: Man charged in incident

A Lewistown man who police say earlier this week fought with Penn State Police, sending one officer to the hospital, was charged in connection with the incident Monday, police said.

Travis Michael Beaston, of 412 E. Walnut St. Rear, Lewistown, Pa., was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of resisting arrest, public drunkenness and harassment, police said.

Beaston urinated at about 3:55 p.m. Monday outside University Support Building 1 and was found by police on a couch, appearing to be asleep, according to the criminal complaint.

Smelling of alcohol, Beaston was awoken by police after several attempts, according to the criminal complaint. Beaston clenched his fists and took a defensive stance while interacting with officers, police said. A scuffle ensued and Beaston was pepper sprayed, police said. An officer was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of a laceration on her finger, police said.

Task force makes 68 arrests

Last weekend, the Centre County Alcohol Task Force made 68 arrests after conducting DUI roving patrols and shop details by officers from Ferguson and Patton townships and State College Borough, according to a news release.

Officers issued 32 warning citations, 10 minor's law violation citations, eight traffic citations and five disorderly conduct citations, according to the news release. Three driving under the influence charges are pending, according to the news release.
