Man arrested, charged in drug bust

Peter W. Johnson, 23, of Bethlehem, Pa., was arrested and charged in connection with a drug-buying bust by police at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the State College Police Department said.

Johnson was found with a pound of marijuana, police said. He is charged with possession with intent to sell, drug possession and criminal use of a communication facility, police said.

Johnson was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Hoffman and transported to Centre County Correctional Facility where he remained as of Tuesday night.

Police release charged driver's name

The State College Police Department has released the name of the driver who police said hit an 84-year-old woman crossing Atherton Street at about 9 a.m. Monday.

Beverly Sutley, 46, struck pedestrian Herta Wilson while traveling eastbound on Beaver Avenue, police said. Wilson sustained a broken ankle from the incident, police said.

Sutley was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.
