New School of Theatre show to open

Tale of a West Texas Marsupial Girl, the new Penn State School of Theatre show, opens at 10 a.m. today in the Playhouse Theatre. The production tells the story of a girl born in a small town who has a slight defect: a pouch. Throughout the show, the plot revolves around how the town relates to her, how she relates to the town and how they resolve their differences, Director Barry Kur said.

Show times for local elementary schools are at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday with public performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

The show is part of the children's theatre series, an annual event in which the School of Theatre puts on a performance for local school-age children.

Tickets for the Saturday public performances are $5.
