Band members stolen from, police say

While the Blue Band performed in "Bandorama" Nov. 21, an unknown person or group rummaged through the band members' bags and belongings stowed in the basement of Eisenhower Auditorium and took about $300 in cash and other items, Penn State Police said.

Band members are still coming forward to file reports of stolen items, Blue Band Director Richard Bundy said.

In the initial police report, $150 in cash was taken sometime between 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. from four different band members while left unattended in a basement room of Eisenhower Auditorium, police said.

A metronome worth $150 was taken along with the cash, police said.

Bundy said Wednesday he believes about 15 to 20 band members were affected.

Police: Visitor charged with trespass

A visitor attempting to enter a secured room inside Beaver Stadium was apprehended by police after falling through the roof of an adjoining building at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 22, Penn State Police said.

John M. Paget, 20, of Hingham, Mass., fell through the roof of a 10-foot building and suffered minor injuries, police said. He is charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief and public drunkenness, police said.

Paget was arraigned by District Judge Thomas Jordan and remanded to Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 unsecured bail, police said.

Students have preliminary hearings

Four Penn State students charged with felonies in the second round of arrests following the Ohio State riot had their preliminary hearings Wednesday.

Abraham T. Doe, 19, waived his preliminary hearing, and the hearings for Robert J. Slater III, 20, Garrick Stafford Jr., 18, and former Daily Collegian photographer Maxwell Kruger, 21, were continued, court administrators said.

According to court documents, Doe, Slater, Stafford and Kruger have all been charged with riot -- a third-degree felony -- and were each also arraigned on misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Kruger, who was no longer a Collegian staff member at the time of the downtown incident, was also charged with a misdemeanor count of failure to disperse, according to court documents.

Sword-wielding student apprehended

A 22-year-old student wielding a samurai sword was apprehended smashing a window at 625 S. Pugh St. to gain entry at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, State College Police said.

The sword was confiscated by police.

The police arrested the student and released him to Mount Nittany Medical Center to be treated for alcohol intoxication and cuts he sustained to his hand while breaking the window, police said.

The man, whose name is not yet available, will be charged, police said.
