Police: Student charged with threats
A Penn State student charged with terroristic threats after police say he threatened and assaulted a South Halls Residence Life coordinator with a pellet gun was bound over for trial Wednesday morning at his preliminary hearing.
Penn State Police said Christopher James Steliga, 18, of Marlton, N.J., was "physically menacing and threatening" and assaulted the coordinator at 10:55 p.m. Nov. 8 in McElwain Hall. Steliga had consumed alcohol, police said.
Steliga is also being charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and liquor law violation in connection with the incident, according to court documents.
Police: Men waive preliminary hearings
Two area men charged in connection with an Oct. 3 burglary at Delta Chi fraternity, 424 E. Fairmount Ave., waived their preliminary hearings Wednesday morning.
Velton Stafford, 29, of Williamsport, and Zachariah Johnson, 19, of Boalsburg, were charged with burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, theft and disorderly conduct after police say they stole two iPods and an Xbox game, valued at $560 in total, from the fraternity, Assistant District Attorney Carolyn Larrabee said.
According to the criminal complaint, Johnson was also charged with underage drinking and possession of a controlled substance after police found him with five ecstasy tablets.
All charges against Stafford and Johnson were withdrawn after none of the fraternity members appeared at the preliminary hearing Oct. 8, but charges were refiled, Larrabee said.
