With the up-and-coming Thanksgiving break there is one fact that I can't get my mind around. The fact that Penn State wants us to be out of the dorms by noon on Sunday, Nov. 23 is quite ridiculous. I just don't see how you could ask someone who maybe can't get a ride or a bus until later that day. I checked the Greyhound Web site and on that day, there are several buses that don't depart until well after noon. Some leave 1:55, 2:45, and 6:15 p.m. on Sunday. Since students will be kicked out at noon, where should they go?
It doesn't seem fair to everyone. I know Penn State is a great university, but is throwing students out in the brutal weather as they wait for a ride showing our true colors? The university has said, "We discourage student activity that puts students at risk." Would they still say this when they are putting us at risk? Another thought in the Penn State principles says, "I will respect the dignity of all individuals within the Penn State community." The school says that as one of their principles, but then does this to us. They expect us to follow them; shouldn't they as well?
