LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Fashion show poorly done, shows groups inexperience

If you didn't see Valley's fashion show Wednesday night, you didn't miss much. As an independent designer who creates and sells custom pieces for all occasions, I've seen amature shows put together in a week that went better. First rule of the runway: There should never be stairs. If you don't believe me, ask the poor "model" who fell down them in a dress. The clothes in this show came from local stores, which makes me wonder how difficult it would have been to find clothing that actually fit the models. Girls on the runway were tugging down skirts, pulling up pants, and attempting not to fall completely out of their tops. I wish I could say the MCs did any better, but the giggle-punctuated script was unprofessional and grammatically incorrect.

To the MCs: You are the fashion editors of a magazine you want to be hailed as the Cosmo of State College -- dress like it! It's not a frat party, it's a fashion show, learn the difference. The only redeeming quality about the entire night was the performance by RAM squad. Valley, I can only hope this was your first attempt at a fashion show. In the future, pick a venue without stairs, find clothing that fits and MCs that can be professional and remember, it takes more than some top-model wannabes and a DJ to make a fashion show.
