Police: Stereos stolen from two cars
There were two car stereo thefts Saturday on South Pugh Street, which are possibly connected, the State College Police Department said. The owner of an unlocked silver Mazda reported stereo equipment stolen from the car at 3:19 p.m Saturday at 527 S. Pugh Street, police said. The value of the stereo system is estimated at $1,060, police said. The owner of a Chevy Blazer reported the car was broken into through a smashed window and stereo equipment stolen at 5:17 p.m Saturday at 513 S. Pugh Street, police said. Police said the value of the stereo equipment is estimated at $500.
State College girl missing, police say
A 16-year-old State College girl has been missing for more than a week, the State College Police Department said. Melanie Joy Hartman left home Oct. 4, but is believed to still be in the State College area, police said. Hartman is 5-foot-2, weighs about 120 pounds, has brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes, police said.
Police: Car stolen from Beaver Avenue
The State College Police Department said a maroon 2005 Toyota Prius was stolen from 456 E. Beaver Ave. The owner reported the car stolen at about 1 p.m. Friday, police said. Police said the car had been there for a few days.
Police: Vehicle found after being towed
A car was stolen sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday from the 1100 block of West Beaver Avenue, the Ferguson Township police said. The vehicle was found, police said, after it was towed for being illegally parked in State College Park apartment complex on Saturday. There are no suspects, police said.
Art on the Move features photographs
Images of Cuba, a collection of photographs taken by A. Dennis McBride, will be displayed in the Ritenour Building beginning today. The exhibition is part of Art on the Move, an initiative sponsored by the HUB-Robeson Galleries that displays art around campus. The photographs are from McBride's trip to Cuba in 2003 and feature shots of both everyday people and musical artists, such as Los Van Van and Beuna Vista Social Club. The exhibition will be available until Dec. 16.
