Obama, Stalin comparison is latest flimsy argument

My letter is in response to Curtis Corson's letter, "Election propaganda shows possible Obama setbacks" (Oct. 8). He is right in that, as citizens, we should be informed in order to make an educated vote. However, to take an Obama campaign poster layout, claim it is "reminiscent of a 1930s Stalin poster," and therefore say, "Obama wants to 'change' America into a communist state" is the latest flimsy rhetoric I have heard from McCain supporters. After Tuesday's presidential debate, I think it is clear McCain has no more legs to stand on in terms of the economic crisis, his likeability, the qualifications of his running mate and his glib attitude toward using our nation's "most precious treasure -- our blood," meaning our military forces to invade other countries like Iran and North Korea.

I would like to inform voters that Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, quoted a fascist writer named Westbrook Pegler in a comment on the superiority of small towns in terms of morality. By Corson's logic, am I supposed to conclude that since Palin quotes a fascist, appeals to the voters in small towns (and by doing so, alienating anyone not living in a small town) she is, therefore, a fascist?
