PSU defeats Purdue, 20-6

West Lafayette, Ind. -- Joe Paterno shook hands with Purdue head coach Joe Tiller at midfield Saturday afternoon before Paterno's No. 6 Penn State team played Tiller's Boilermakers.

Afterwards, Paterno, who has been hobbled by a leg injury for the past few weeks, headed to the press box at Ross-Ade Stadium where he coached his squad to a 20-6 win over Purdue.

Penn State scored the fewest points yet this year, but the Lion defense held Purdue to 241 total yards and forced Tiller's squad to make mistakes. The Boilermakers' strong-armed quarterback, Curtis Painter was sacked twice and threw an interception as his team was driving down the field.

Painter was benched after his floating pass, intended for tight end Jerry Wasikowski, was plucked out of the air by Penn State safety Drew Astorino who returned it 29 yards into Purdue territory. The good field position led to Kevin Kelly's second field goal of the day and put Penn State up by 20.

After the game, Paterno said he wasn't sure if he would feel good enough to return to the sidelines this year.
