Joe Paterno watched half of Saturday's 45-3 win over Temple from the sidelines and half from the press box as Penn State wrapped up its out-of-conference schedule.
Paterno, whose right leg was agitated last week by the artificial turf inside Syracuse's Carrier Dome, was on the sidelines for the first half. As the team headed on the field for the second half, Paterno gingerly took a seat in a golf cart to the elevator, where he watched the rest of the game from the second level of the press box with other Penn State coaches.
He initially tweaked his knee during practice leading up to the opener against Coastal Carolina when he attempted a squib back.
Paterno temporarily moved ahead of Florida State coach Bobby Bowden as the all-time winningest coach among major college football coaches. He now has 376 career wins, and Bowden will have a chance to move into a tie once again Saturday night when the Seminoles play Wake Forest.
As for the game itself, Penn State overcame a sloppy start. Running back Stephfon Green shined with 132 yards on just nine carries, including a 69-yard touchdown run. Daryll Clark, who threw an interception when he overthrew Brett Brackett, finished 13 of 20 for 196 yards.
