Man taken to hospital after car crash

A two-vehicle crash that occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Atherton Street and West College Avenue resulted in one man being transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College Police said.

According to a police accident report, Jamie Goodman, 22, of Clearfield, Ky., was northbound on Atherton Street approaching West College Avenue at the same time Bryan Ohs, 21, of State College, was stopped on West College Avenue facing a red light.

Police said Ohs pulled through the intersection after receiving a green light and struck Goodman's vehicle in the intersection. Goodman continued northbound and his vehicle rolled over into the oncoming lane of traffic, coming to a rest on its roof, police said.Goodman, Ohs and witnesses gave differing accounts of the incident, police said.

Goodman was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center and treated for neck, back and shoulder pain, as well as minor cuts and scrapes, police said, adding Ohs was not injured.

Man charged in knife fight, police say

State College police charged an 18-year-old man with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after police say he attempted to use a knife to cut the face of a juvenile Friday night in Central Parklet. Stephon Brooks, 18, was arraigned before District Judge Leslie Dutchcot and placed in Centre County Correctional Facility, police said.

Police officers working at the State College High School football game responded to a fight involving a knife at about 9 p.m. Friday, according to a police news release.

Police said they found a juvenile male victim who said an individual he had an altercation with pulled a knife on him and attempted to cut his face. The victim sustained minor cuts to his face and hands, police said.

Plane malfuctions during landing

A small plane carrying three people experienced a landing gear malfunction after landing at University Park Airport on Friday night, Penn State Police said.

The two passengers and pilot were uninjured after the plane's landing gear collapsed as it taxied to another location on the ground, police said.

The plane, coming from Philadelphia, landed at about 9 p.m. Friday, shutting down the airport until 1:45 a.m. Saturday, police said. Police could not provide an estimate to the amount of damage done to the plane.

State Theatre to show documentaries

This week, the State Theatre, 130 W. College Ave, will be featuring two documentaries.

Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson is a documentary narrated by Johnny Depp. It depicts many of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson's adventures including his turbulent relationship with the Hell's Angels, his interest and involvement in Sen. George McGovern's presidential campaign in the 1970s and more. The documentary will be playing through Wednesday.

The second documentary, CSNY Déjà Vu, follows Crosby Stills Nash and Young on their Freedom of Speech 2006 Tour of North America. With the Iraq/Afghanistan War as its backdrop and Neil Young's Living With War on the soundtrack, the film illustrates the audience's reactions to the music and issues it features. This film will be shown in the State Theatre beginning Friday. Both films cost $7 and $5 for students and seniors.
