SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Quarterbacks Daryll Clark and Pat Devlin led Penn State's high-powered offense into the Carrier Dome on Saturday afternoon and handed Syracuse its worst loss of the series since 1973.
Combined, Clark and Devlin completed 18 of 34 passes for 193 yards and four touchdowns as the Nittany Lions shellacked the Orange, 55-13.
Jordan Norwood came up big again for Penn State. Norwood caught five passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
It didn't look good early for Penn State as Clark fumbled the ball away on the Lions' first possession.
Clark made up for it after a Syracuse fumble gave Penn State the ball at midfield. Clark threw to Norwood, who ran a comeback near the left sideline. Norwood pivoted and took off for a 55-yard score just 13 seconds into the game.
Devlin entered the game in the second quarter, after Penn State had the contest in-hand. At halftime, Penn State had already racked up 393 yards of offense compared to Syracuse's 42.
The 42-point deficit is Syracuse's most lopsided loss during the Joe Paterno era since the Orange lost to Penn State by 43 in 1973.
