Defensive tackle Abe Koroma said Wednesday afternoon he and defensive end Maurice Evans were not aware of any change in their status for Saturday's game against Syracuse.
"I don't know anything," Koroma said in response to reports that he and Evans were not expected to play at the Carrier Dome on Saturday.
Koroma said "I don't know" when asked when he expected to find out whether he and Evans would play.
Sports information director Jeff Nelson said early Wednesday afternoon he "has not received any updates."
Josh Gaines said during a conference call Wednesday that Evans and Koroma are not practicing with the team, and Tyrell Sales confirmed Evans and Koroma did not practice Tuesday.
"I really don't know what the deal is," Gaines said. "Joe [Paterno] still hasn't decided what he's doing, I guess. I'm not sure what's going on."
Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley deferred questions about whether Koroma or Evans would play.
"The only guy that can answer that question is Coach Paterno," Bradley said. "He handles all that. ... That's not my realm."
Evans and Koroma did not dress for Saturday's game against Oregon State.
Penn State police said they seized a "small amount" of marijuana at Nittany Apartment 5204 Sept. 2. A search warrant that cited university housing records indicated tight end Andrew Quarless, cornerback A.J. Wallace, Evans and Koroma were the most recent tenants.
Police are still investigating, and nobody has been charged.
"There are circumstances involved with this which I can't really get into, and I don't want to get into," Paterno said Tuesday. "There are four people with exactly the same involvement. So I'm just trying to wait until I get this thing straightened out, and then we'll see what happens."
Koroma and Evans are not listed on this week's depth chart. The starting defensive ends are listed as Aaron Maybin and Gaines, with Eric Latimore backing up Maybin and Kevion Latham backing up Gaines. The starters at tackle are Jared Odrick and Ollie Ogbu, and the reserves are Jack Crawford, Tom McEowen and Chima Okoli.
