Prescription drugs seized in apartment

In addition to a small amount of marijuana, prescription drugs were also found last week in a Nittany Apartments residence inhabited by four football players, according to court documents.

According to the receipt/inventory of seized property, a "small roach" of marijuana was found under a bag of shoes and three quantities of "suspected marijuana" were found at 5204 Nittany Apartments.

According to a search warrant that cites university housing records, football players AJ Wallace, Andrew Quarless, Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma reside at 5204 Nittany Apartments, where a noise complaint prompted a police search at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 2.

Two "roaches" were found in Koroma's room, and two were found outside his room, according to the receipt. An expired Pennsylvania learner's permit in Koroma's name was also found and seized, according to the receipt.

A can containing a marijuana roach, "bagging containing marijuana," a bag of marijuana and "ripped bagging" were seized from Evans' room, according to the receipt.

A bag of marijuana with an empty cigar was also seized, along with unlabeled prescription medication, according to the receipt.

Penn State Police Capt. Bill Moerschbacher said Monday no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, but the investigation will continue.

Last week, Moerschbacher could not specify who would be charged or what charges would be filed because he said police are still investigating

who had possession of the drugs. Once the investigation is complete, charges will be filed, he said.

Only Quarless, Wallace and Aristides A. Nova (senior-engineering) were mentioned in the search warrant as being at the apartment the night of Sept. 2.

Koroma and Evans were not allowed to play in Saturday's game against Oregon State University. Wallace played because Joe Paterno said he was not involved in the incident.

Although Paterno said Thursday Quarless would not play against Oregon State, he dressed for the game but did not see any action.

When asked by reporters Saturday why Quarless dressed after the earlier suspension announcement, Paterno said, "How'd he look?"

Wallace was replaced in Saturday's game by redshirt freshman Drew Astorino until the fourth quarter, and Wallace's only action to that point came on special teams.

Koroma started at defensive tackle in the season opener against Coastal Carolina and recorded two tackles, while Evans finished with two stops as well.

Evans was also a preseason All-American after finishing with 54 tackles, 12.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss last season.

Quarless has had an up and down career at Penn State, with prior brushes with police.

Quarless received an underage drinking citation two weeks before the 2007 season began and was arraigned on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and related violations in March 2008. He has since entered an Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program.
