Jordan Center welcomes 'burnin' Jonas Brothers

One of the most popular bands in the nation will be performing in State College tonight, when teenage heartthrobs The Jonas Brothers play at 7 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Bernie Punt, director of sales and marketing for the BJC, said State College is more than just another venue for the trio.

"It's a nice homecoming of sorts for behind the scenes and the band," Punt said.

Four men who play a large role in the brothers' band are from Happy Valley.

Phil McIntyre is the Jonas Brothers' co-manager, John Taylor is the lead guitarist, Matt Petroff, the tour manager and Chris Nauda is the backstage crew chief.

Ticket prices range from $27.50 to $65, but student tickets can still be purchased for $20, courtesy of the University Park Allocation Committee.

"It's the hottest tour and the hottest guys," Punt said. "They're the biggest thing you can have in the country right now."

Punt said the "icing on the cake" is the Jonas Brothers' Camp Rock co-star, Demi Lovato, who will also be performing tonight. Other acts include The Veronicas and rap songs from the band's bodyguard, Big Rob.

An estimated 10,000 attendees will be coming to tonight's show, and less than 2,000 seats were still available as of press time. The Jonas Brothers released their third album, A Little Bit Longer, on Aug. 13 and it is currently No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Plus, their second self-titled album, The Jonas Brothers, is sitting in the No. 20 spot because of the success of the third, Punt said.

Along with two of the Jonas Brothers' own albums, their recent Disney Movie, Camp Rock, has a soundtrack at No. 9 on the Billboard 200.

"It's the first time that three albums from the same people have been in the Billboard charts at one time since a group called The Backstreet Boys," Punt said.

Though one may assume the crowd will only be screaming preteens, there are students who are also excited to see the band.

"I've been so excited to go to the Jonas Brothers," Caitlyn McCarthy (freshman-hotel and restaurant management) said. "I can't believe it's finally here."
