Former Penn State defensive tackle Phil Taylor is planning to transfer to Baylor University, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald.
Taylor was dismissed from the Penn State football team two weeks ago by Joe Paterno. No reason was given for the dismissal.
According to the report, Taylor has yet to enroll at the university, but took in a Baylor practice session Thursday. Under NCAA transfer rules, he'll have to redshirt this fall at Baylor and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning next season.
Paterno suspended Taylor and another former Penn State player from the team in February "until their academic situation improves and any off-the-field issues are behind them," according to a statement released in February by Penn State sports information director Jeff Nelson.
Police have also said Taylor was involved in an on-campus fight last October. As part of a plea deal, Baker accepted one year probation after he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in connection with the fight.
Last season the Baylor Bears went 3-9 overall, including 0-8 in the Big 12 conference.
Nelson could not be reached immediately for comment.
