A Sunday morning fight near the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Pugh Street ended with two men injured seriously and admitted to the hospital, according to a press release issued by the State College Police Department yesterday.
The two alleged victims called police at about 2:45 a.m. after the group of men they say assaulted them drove away from the scene in a red Mazda, according to the release. Neither the alleged victims' names nor descriptions were available as of press time yesterday.
According to alleged victims' statements to police, the altercation began with an "exchanging of words" between the two alleged victims and two other men.
The two other men are described as in their 20s, according to the press release.
The alleged victims told police a fight began between the two groups, and the alleged assailants were quickly joined by two other men also described as in their 20s, according to the release.
During the fight, the alleged victims were hit several times in the head by the other men with an unknown object, causing serious injuries to both men, according to the release.
Both alleged victims were taken to the hospital following the assault, and one of the men was subsequently flown to Geisinger Medical Center for further treatment, according to the release.
No further information about the cause of the fight, the extent of the alleged victims' injuries or their condition was available as of press time yesterday. The State College Police Department did not return repeated phone calls.
