What an interesting twist of facts stated in Mr. Lipowsky's letter "Accusations against Israel are unfair and misplaced," (July 24).
Israel's main human rights organization, B'tselem ("Land Grab" 2002 report) reports that Israel applies apartheid practices and "is the only one of its kind in the world, and is reminiscent of distasteful regimes from the past, such as the apartheid regime in South Africa."
No matter what Mr. Lipowsky says and despite the number of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee lobbyists hired, you can't make the people think that up is down, that the Palestinians are the perpetrators and not the victims.
If Mr. Lipowsky claims the barrier being built by Israel is in fact a "fence" and not an apartheid wall, then how does he explain the decision made by the International Court of Justice in 2004 ruling the barrier is illegal?
Israel, unlike other countries that violate human rights, has a duel system of law based on separation through discrimination, similar to the racist apartheid regime that existed in South Africa until 1994.
Just as former President Jimmy Carter stated in his book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, peace will not come to Israel unless it submits to international law.
